Despite showing off insane skills, mobile players have long been treated as second-class citizens by the gaming industry. No amount of mastery and consistency has shifted that perception. We’re changing that.

VALORANT Mobile is a high skill ceiling, high-stakes and highly competitive experience like PC. We launch it as the ultimate stage to flex in mobile games. But to do so will demand all they have: tactics, aim, teamwork.

We created this trailer to show why teamwork is so demanding in our game, and why the payoff is worth it. The actions are choreographed to capture exactly what it feels like to play VALORANT.

This is our way of proving our mastery ceiling potential but also that VALORANT mobile is VALORANT through and through. I directed this with BLUR on top of my creative direction duties.

For the key visual, we want to focus on the promise of VALORANT mobile being a true PC VALORANT experience, hence we included crazy player-invented high level moves here.

This includes backwards sliding Neon, double satchel jump Raze, and Sage doing a grim wall etc. We’re essentially saying, what you can do in PC, you can do in mobile… if you got the skills.

SETTING THE BAR FOR MOBILE GAMEPLAY TRAILERS

Traditionally, FPS mobile trailers have relied on mouse and keyboard gameplay: it’s easier and more convenient to record this way. But if we truly want to honor the mastery of FPS mobile players, we need to raise the bar.

This trailer is recorded entirely on mobile, setting a new standard for the industry. It’s proof of the high skill ceiling unique to our game, something other FPS mobile titles simply haven’t been able to showcase.

As the creative lead for VALORANT Mobile, I stretched across in-game, around-game and out-of-game systems: delivering holistic experiences for players, be the IP guardian and making sure every partner delivers at the same quality bar.

This includes setting the best practices for player cards, in-game sprays, home page, battle pass themes and assets, even designing new in-game characters. On top of these, I set the creative platform for each major patch that work across all systems.

70 million players flooded into closed beta pre-registrations. This campaign also set Tencent’s history with the strongest retention we have ever seen across their entire portfolio, not just Riot Games.

This campaign is also China’s most successful mobile game launch year-to-date (Source: QuestMobile and Sensor Tower, 2025). We are deeply grateful as players’ fandom keeps surprising us every single day.
